About the Author

Although I publish under my full name--Jason Dougherty--I typically go by "Jay."

I married my wife, Megan, on June 5, 2004. She is the most wonderful thing in my life and her support of my writing keeps me motivated to publish and excel.

I grew up in Gilroy California, the garlic capitol of the world. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. My mother has a copy of a story that I wrote in the second grade called "The Treasure Chest."

I love to read. My favorite author is easily Dean Koontz (I've read over 40 of his novels) but I enjoy a wide variety of suspense, horror, and sci-fi novelists. You can find out about other books I've read in my library.

I love movies. My favorite genres are action flicks, science fiction, and superhero movies.

Aside from writing, and struggling to differentiate between the reality of the movies and the fiction of the real world (did I say that backwards?), I love music. I started singing in school choirs in the seventh grade and continued all the way through high school. I served a mission for my church for two years in Bolivia, and upon return, I began attending Brigham Young University where I majored in music education and minored in English.

Singing is right up there with writing on my list of my life's passions. I graduated in December 2004 and I currently teach high school in Las Vegas Nevada.

In addition to teaching high school, I am heavily involved in barbershop singing and competition. I sing in a great quartet that you'll have to check out when you get a chance.

I love baseball and College Football. My favorite baseball teams are the SF Giants and the NY Yankees. In College Football, I love to watch the BYU Cougars as well as almost any other Division 1-A team.

I like to play Tennis and Basketball. And time permitting, I enjoy running and composing choral music. I also enjoy skiing and SCUBA diving.

Let me know what else you'd like to know.

~Jay
